Deansgate Railway station, one of Manchester's busiest stations is depicted in this dynamic and playful painting by local artist Matt Wilde.

Painted in his unique style, Wilde takes an everyday scene of commuters waiting for their train and injects it with a tender charm reminiscent of Lowry’s paintings.

A middle aged man, wearing a stone roses bucket hat, reads the Manchester Evening News newspaper whilst a young boy chomps down on a chewy sweet. Across the platform a billboard for the 2013 rockumentary: ‘The Stone Roses: Made of Stone’ can be seen.

Matt Wilde is a northern-based artist who draws inspiration from urban environments and the vibrancy of city life. He is best known as a painter of urban landscapes, urban surroundings, daily commutes, consumerism and waste issues. Based in Warrington, Matt is an exhibition artist and is represented by Artzu Gallery in Manchester City Centre.
