The dynamic skyline of media city can be seen in this painting by local artist Lucy Burgess. The BBC buildings: Quay House and Bridge House are based here. BBC Breakfast, Match of the Day, BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio Manchester as well as the production of Blue Peter, Mastermind, Dragons' Den and CBBC all take place across these two sites. Media City is also home to ITV Granada and ITV studios and the sets for Coronation Street which are located on the Trafford Wharf.

At its heart, the Manchester Ship Canal, one of the greatest feats of Victorian engineering, a vast stretch of water that connected Manchester and Salford to the rest of the world, and in turn enabled them to become cities known for their innovation, vision and international trade.
Lucy Burgess’ work reflects on her own personal memories of her hometown, she explains: ‘I truly believe art should make you think, feel and reminisce - it doesn't have to match the couch as the old saying goes. Much of my work plays on the memories I share with many communities across Stockport; which marked the start of an exciting future for me and my art.’
