This minimalist drawing by North-West based artist Louise Potter shows the iconic aluminium-clad Imperial War Museum North as it overlooks the Manchester Ship Canal.

Purpose-built to tell powerful stories of over a century of war, IWM North makes full use of its extraordinary architecture to deliver an award-winning immersive experience. Designed by the internationally acclaimed architect, Daniel Libeskind, who designed the Jewish Museum in Berlin and was recently behind the masterplan for the Ground Zero site in New York.

Libeskind wanted the building to be a symbol of the effects of war, so he came up with the concept of a globe shattered into three pieces – and though it's been put back together, it will never be the same again.

Louise Potter, is a Liverpool based artist and illustrator with a passion for buildings, places and form. With a background in architectural interior design, she rediscovered her passion for painting, printing and drawing. She works in traditional watercolour and ink as well as digitally, drawing on an iPad.

She writes of her own work:

‘I love creating memories with simple line drawings of buildings in cities all over the world. Whether it's a famous building, a favourite place, a wedding venue or the house you grew up in, I have the perfect print for you!’
